The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients to rehabilitate and restore function and lessen/prevent disability and symptoms/pain. The Physical Therapist will individually evaluate, then develop, implement, and re-assess patient specific treatment plans in accordance with established principles and best practices of physical therapy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Thoroughly and appropriately evaluates referred patients to assess their need for physical therapy services and the best possible physical therapy treatment plan.
- In coordination with other appropriate clinical team members, develops realistic, best-practice rehabilitation program using appropriate therapeutic modalities designed to meet the patients’ personal, vocational, recreational, and medical needs.
- Orients patients to their individual physical therapy programs to assure their understanding of the treatments, mutually agreed upon goals, and approximate anticipated length of the treatment.
- Explains the patient’s responsibility to mutually achieve the established physical therapy goals and a successful outcome.
- Promotes ongoing patient education and participation in discussion of their status, treatment plans, and goals.
- Maintains goal-directed and purposeful physical therapy assessment and treatment; with patient feedback and involvement at every PT session. Listens, responds, and appropriately addresses patients’ needs and concerns.
- Completes and maintains timely, accurate, and complete documentation and patient physical therapy records (paper and/or EMR); ensuring compliance with the documentation policies and requirements of the Company, State Board, patients’ insurance plan, and best practices (as outlined by the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners).
- Completes all requested insurance or other requested patient-related clinical forms in a timely and thorough manner.
- Communicates with key stakeholders (i.e.: internal staff, patient’s physician, and/or patient’s family or caregiver) as appropriate, while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Initiates referrals to other disciplines or services when appropriate.
- Achieves daily and ongoing excellence with regards to patient census management strategies.
- Submits accurate charges for services and supplies consistent with Company and patient insurance standards.
- Completes and documents regular re-evaluations and assessments to measure patient progress, determine further plan of care, and meet 3rd party payor requirements.
- Ensures compliance with Federal/Medicare guidelines and Company policies.
- Participates in clinic marketing events as needed and professionally represents the Company and the profession of physical therapy within the community.
- Follows established policies, procedures, objectives, as well as safety, environmental, accessibility, HIPAA, and infection control standards. Reports any unsafe work condition or practice to management.
- Completes and maintains reports, as directed.
- Assists in completing documentation for initial and ongoing credentialing with participating insurance plans.
- Participates in ongoing continuing education (including continuing education courses, self-study, review of literature, peer discussions, etc).
- Participates in and complete all required trainings and in-services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field of study, from an accredited college/university that is registered b the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Must have knowledge of Internet and Microsoft Office software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook).
- Must possess and maintain current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Maryland.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, including exceptional customer service.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with doctors, clinical staff, other co-workers and the public.
- Must be able to work individually as well as within a team.
- Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to respond with patience and understanding during stressful conditions related to patient health and emergent situations.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree from an accredited college or university in Physical Therapy or a related field of study.
- One (1) year of prior experience working in a physical therapy practice.
- One (1) year of prior experience working with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Driving/Travel:
The employee must have reliable transportation. While the primary workplace may be closest to the employee’s home, work assignments could be in any of the Company’s locations.
